Blood of a Thousand Stars: Empress of a Thousand Skies Review

Blood of a Thousand Stars: Empress of a Thousand Skies (Book 2)

by Rhoda Belleza

“Empress Rhiannon Ta’an is back from the dead.

Rhee has returned home to reclaim her throne, but is faced with her most difficult yet: make a deal with her enemy or denounce him and risk losing her crown. As a revolution brews, Rhee may be forced to betray the morals she stands for, and the only people in the world she trusts, in hopes of restoring peace.

Framed assassin¬†Alyosha has lost everything. Now he journeys through spae with only one goal in mind: killing former ambassador turned villainous media star Nero. To get his revenge, Aly may have to travel to the one place he thought he’d never return – home.

Across the galaxy,¬†Kara grapples with her new identity as Josselyn Ta’an, true heir to the throne. SHe has no recollection of the princess she once was, but her DNA is changing and it’s only a matter of time before she’s recognized. Tracking down a rare piece of technology may be the key to remembering – and erasing – Josselyn Ta’an forever. But Kara isn’t the only one after it.

As the planets prepare for war,¬†Nero has plans of his own. His eyes are everywhere, and he’ll stop at nothing to take control of the entire galaxy – one soul at a time.

Vicious politics and high-stakes action culminate in an epic showdown that will determine the fate of the universe.”

After reading Empress of a Thousand Stars last year I knew I had to read Blood of a Thousand Stars when it came out. You need to read these books in order.

Rhee has gone home to claim the throne, but Nero is there waiting for her and tries to sway her to his side. Kara and Aly are nearby but on the run. Kara wants to destroy the one thing Nero wants.

That was an epic conclusion to this duology, it took a couple of chapters for me to remember what had happened in the first book and to get back into the story, but I was hooked and did not want to put it down.

I have quite a few favourite characters; Rhee, Aly, Kara, Dahlen, Alina, Pavel and Issa. I really liked getting to know more about the characters from the first book, but also getting to know some new characters. I enjoyed getting to know about the WFC and the links with the Vodhan monks.

I had a lot of favourite parts, especially the second half. I love Aly and Kara together, I also enjoyed Rhee, Dahlen, Issa and Alina’s parts. The ending is brutal I think my heart shattered, I was reading late at night and I cried so much I was worried about waking my husband up.

Blood of a Thousand Stars does not end on a cliffhanger as it is the end of the series.

While reading this book, I described it as two princesses trying to do the best for their galaxy but also themselves. I would recommend to anyone. 5 out of 5.
